Equipment and Preparation Checklist
- Binoculars (an absolute must unless you hate wildlife)
- Valid vaccination certificate for Yellow Fever
- Anti-Malaria protection-optional (Peruvian Amazon is a low-level
risk area, we don’t take anything ourselves but the decision is up
to you)
- Sunblock (high UV protection factor 30+)
- Sunhat (do not come without one)
- Insect Repellent (recommended is 50% DEET, but many people now prefer
to use natural applications such as lemon and eucalyptus)
- Afterbite cream for those with reactions to bites
- Any personal hygiene and medical supplies
- Personal water container (we provide the contents)
- Day pack
- Light sleeping bag and mat (if camping)
- Rain clothing (simple Poncho is sufficient)
- Warm clothes for early mornings and mountain passes
- Trekking boots
- Wellington boots in rainy season are beneficial (November to January)
- Sandals
- Long sleeve shirts and close fitting trousers for maximum protection
(lightweight manmade, easy dry materials are recommended)
- Bathing suit and towel (for supervised river dips)
- Changes of shirt and personal garments for each day in the jungle

Travelwash’ if your visit is an extended one
- Flashlight (Headtorch is the most useful)
- Camera and films (recommended is ASA 400)
- A Telephoto lens is recommended to maximise wildlife trips
- Silica Gel to keep cameras dry and batteries functional (not important
for short trips)
- Spare Batteries (it may be possible to recharge camera batteries
at some lodges but this cannot be guaranteed)
- Plastic bags to keep possessions in
- Money for beverages, and other purchases
NB. If travelling by plane the luggage allowance is 10 kilos, after which
a there is a surcharge. |
